I'm wondering if the MIT application is due on 10/31 at 11:59 PM, or if we also have the day of November first to submit (making the last possible submission for EA on 11/1 at 11:59 PM). I was hoping it wouldn't come to this, but it might for my final reviewing. Hoping to get an answer from Mollie (or someone else who is DEFINITELY sure about the deadline). Thanks

I have the same question!!!

You have until 11:59:59 (EST, I believe) on November 1 to submit your application, although I wouldn't recommend waiting until then. :)

Last year Matt had an entry on November 1 which contains good advice for EA applicants: Deadline Day
Importantly, he reminds you that 1) mailed materials do not have to arrive by Nov 1, they just have to be postmarked; 2) you do not need to freak out if some part of your application is not showing up in the tracking system by Nov 1; and 3) if anything important happens in your life after the deadline, you can call, email, or write to update the admissions officers.

Ack, I'm ashamed to say it will come to that for me. I've spent 38 hours so far on my main essay. Two of those hours were spent actually writing. The other 36 were effectively spent staring at a blank screen. I so far have two paragraphs of it.

I know. I know. I'm awful.

I know how you feel phymm. I did the exact same thing. But then my power went out and I began to freak out because I couldn't work on it, so I went to a friend's house and didn't let myself leave until it was done. Trust me, it feels really, really good when you finish.

can anyone else confirm this??

Yep. I can. Read Matt's newest blogpost. You have until 11:59 of Nov. 1.

this is good. I'm going to need it.

Just for the record, you can confirm almost all of the things I say by checking Matt's or Ben's blogs. Even if Matt doesn't have a relevant entry yet this year, you can look for entries around the relevant time in 2004, 2005, 2006, or 2007 to get most of this information.

For example, in the blog entry to which I linked above, Matt is writing on November 1 and says

Happy November 1, Early Action applicants! Today is the day that, if you haven't yet done so, you must click the "Submit" button on your EA app (or take it to the post office for postmarking).

Ergo, he is saying that you can submit your application on November 1.

thanks alot

I would assume this is true for other schools - i.e. Brown????

I submitted earlier today... what a relief it is to be done!!! WOO HOO!!!

all doneee!!! submitted last niteee!!!

hahahahah yes what a relief it is... now we have 44 days of agony!
