Would it be a good idea to mention awards like a particular college's book award or that you were chosen as a semifinalist in a scholarship program if the college alumni you're interviewing with is not from the same college?

You mean an award given to high school students by a college? If the opportunity presents itself, there's no reason why you should be hesitant to mention it just because it was awarded by a different college. Now if the scholarship program only gives you money to attend the one school, that isn't something I'd necessarily dwell on, but if you feel it gives you something interesting to talk about, then it won't really hurt you.

Unless the interviewer specifically asks, I wouldn't start reeling off all of your awards (the college already has this information anyway). The times you would bring something like this up is when it leads to a good story about how you won it.
