I got a 30 so I’d qualify for the UA Scholar but I’m going to retake it this September to try to get a 32.

^^^

Also, sign up for the October ACT…and sign up for the Oct and Nov SAT. Sometimes it’s easier to get the 1400 M+CR SAT…depending on your strengths and weaknesses. So, do both!!

Carthage College in Wisconsin has automatic merit scholarships of varying levels. The highest-level academic scholarship pays for $11,000/year, and requires an unweighted GPA of 3.5 and an ACT score of 30 or SAT score of 1320 (CR+M). They also have various other automatic scholarships, which are mostly smaller awards.

They also have many competitive scholarships, including thirty-five presidential scholarships which range in coverage from 50% of tuition to full tuition, room, and board.

Tuition is $31,100, total cost of attendance is estimated $39,900.

I applied there over the weekend and am guaranteed the highest academic scholarship–it’s not my first choice, but I may have to settle. My family is solidly middle-class: we earn too much for me to qualify for much financial aid, especially as an only child, but aren’t in a good enough situation financially to afford our EFC. /:

jkiw-HIram offered my d the most aid!! they really are a bargain for such a good quality education. My d ultimately decided the school was too far from home for her, but I still think it is a terrific and affordable school.

For those reading about Hiram, they were not the most affordable school for my son. Their package came in better than many others, making the school doable, but at least 3 schools offered my son a better package. We did like the school a lot!

For the SAT score requirements for these scholarships would they be from one sitting or super-scored?

Each school would have its own policy. I know that Alabama doesn’t use a super-score. It uses the best ACT composite or best Math + CR SAT from one sitting.

What are your stats?

mom - is the U of A NMF scholarship for any U of A campus or Birmingham or Tuscaloosa specific?

Thank you.

The scholarships that I have listed in an earlier post are for The University of Alabama. That is the flagship in Tuscaloosa. The link is below as well.

this link takes you to the College of Engineering, but all of the Alabama assured scholarships are listed…even the campus-wide ones and the NMF ones. so, just scroll down to see them all.

To find out what UAB or UAH gives, you’d have to go to their websites. :)

What campus were you looking at?

With some further research, it appears that UA B’ham also offers very similar scholarships. This school is a better match academically for my S, or at least appears to be, as he is a bio person.

Bumping for those who might be interested.

here’s UAB automatic scholarships:

btw crazymomster UAB is ranked 34th for biological sciences!
