Important! Need to read regarding high school language. Please reply!!!

How many years of language should I take in high school to get into a good college. I plan on going to Spanish 3. Help!
I am a freshman, and i took spanish 1 in middle school, so i need to take spanishe 2 freshman, spanish 3 sophomore, and spanish 4 junior, right?
I also plan to study chinese at home and hopefully pass the test so i don't have to have language in college. I am chinese and am able to listen and speak fluently, but i am still a work in progress in writing and reading. Does this affect how many language classes i should take?

If you find that you’re good at Spanish, why don’t you go up to Spanish AP senior year? Colleges generally want to see 3/4 years of languages. The more the better in my opinion since you’re probably going to be competing against people who have taken 4 years.

Since you’re a native speaker, getting a 5 on the Chinese AP test or 800 on the subject test isn’t going to be impressive to colleges. You should definitely learn Chinese for your own sake/if you’re interested in it but it’s not going to be the same as if you did really good in Spanish.
