I sent in my Css and Idoc last week and mentioned in them that I would not be filing any tax documents. But surprisingly today at work my employer handed me a t4 form and thats when I realized I am supposed to file in the tax return ( first year at job-- had no idea) So what do I do now? Is there a way to contact collegeboard to let them know.I haven't sent any 2009 forms as yet ...so should I wait because it will still be some time before I get my return? Please advise!! Thanks.

You still may not be required to file a tax return, depending on how much your income was in 2009. Hopefully another Canadian will know the answer but check with your government’s website and see what the limits are. Of course, if you had tax withholding you may want to file just to get a refund!

Either way, I would get this taken care of asap and then contact your school(s) to give them your new tax return if any.

I was wondering about that as well. If the amount is not much do I still have to file it? Please let me know if anyone has an idea about it.

In any case, i don’t think I will get any return before april…is that going to be a big problem or would it be fine?

Hopefully you listed your INCOME from your job on the Profile. Your tax forms (T4…and tax return IF you are required to file one) are typically used to verify the income.

Yes I did that…So I should be fine then , right?

Is it just a couple hundred loonies? If it is a small amount, you may be able to fire an email to the financial aid office and get it taken care of . . .
