I am a student at Cornell with a 4.0 gpa. However, I only got a 1300 on my SATs and was valedictorian of my high school. Assuming that I do not do that well on my LSATs (I am just not a great standardized test taker), do I still have a decent chance at getting into a top 20 law school? In other words, will any of the top law schools acknowledge students who do extremely well in a classroom environment but have only average lsat scores. I have not taken an LSAT yet, but I am just assuming with my low verbal sat score I probably will only do average on the LSAT...This has been making me really nervous.

If you read the other threads here, you will see that GPA and LSAT scores and pretty much the be all and end all of the LS admission process. While I might not let that stop me from applying to some top schools, I would focus on having a few lower tier schools in the package.

sports: A 4.0 from Cornell is a most impressive thing! What school are you at and what class?

I am in the applied economics and management department, Cornell's new business school (I transferred from the college of arts and sciences) and am now a junior...Thanks a lot --- I work really hard.

so im still not quite sure, does having a 4.0 at Cornell really not make a difference iin applying to law school if your lsats aren't amazing and you have a previous history of performing only average on standardized tests, while always doing exceptional in the classroom..you really think that no top 15 or 20 school will overlook the average test score?

maybe this will help!
