Important question about transcripts!

Do colleges usually take a long time to update information about recieving transcripts? I sent my transcript 2 1/5 weeks ago and even though my school said it would take 7-10 days for schools to recieve it, it says awaiting in the college website. It also says that they are reviewing my application. Does this mean they really have my transcript but didn't update the information yet? Thanks for you reply

Stanford took 2 months and 3 weeks to update mine.

MIT, harvard, Princeton took 2 weeks.

Duke took 2 months.

Caltech took a week.

it varies from school to school. Some of them take a really long time updating the statuses on their web site. Which just means you have to keep checking and to be calling or contacting them sometime before the deadline.

so they could have it but not tell me for a long time?

It gets worse.

One of the schools above (left unnamed) even notified me they
did not have a recc that I knew for a fact they received
because the postcard that went with the recc was mailed
back. The teacher who gave it was super organized and
had it faxed in within minutes of my panicked request.

The mismatch in timeliness expectation is primarily because
your sense of urgency is not theirs. Schools like MIT, Caltech
and Harvard are human enough though to put you on hold
and check and let you know the status if you are feeling
particularly stressed. Do not abuse it though, they keep track
- I think they notate the files or something.
