important question for benjones

Hi ben, I have a big problem and I need your advice. I was wondering what happens if an applicant can't get a recommendation from a history or social science teacher. I only took math, physics, and chemistry in grades 11 and 12 (British A Levels) and all of the teachers who taught me in grades 9 and 10 aren't at my school anymore (many have left the country). I really don't see any way for me to get recs from them, so what should I do to fix this?

Thanks

I would try to reach one of them (see if anyone at the school has a forwarding email address, or even google them), but if you can't, just explain the situation in your application and give your Eval B to a second science or math teacher.

Hi Ben,

I'm in the same situation. In India we don't take Social Sciene (history, geography, civics or economics) after 10th grade. Although the teachers are still there in my school, I was wondering if I should get it from them because they haven't taught for me two years (but some of them have known me for more than 6 years).

Thanks

Yes, you should definitely get a proper Eval B if possible, even if the teacher hasn't taught you in awhile. The differences in perspective between a math/science teacher versus a humanities/social science teacher can be quite pronounced.

Thanks Ben! :)
