I just got "invited" to apply at a school i didnt really plan on applying to. I have decided to apply, just for the simple reason that it cant hurt. Unfortunately, the deadline for admission is this sunday and I need to get my recs that the other schools im applying to received. question is, how to i go about asking those schools for copies of my rec's to send to this new school, considering I didnt ask for copies from my teachers and I highly doubt they will be willing to fill out another set of rec's in less than 4 days. thanks.

howd u get invited?

The D of admissions heared of me through the associate director, whose wife is nest friends with my mom. She called me today to ask if I would apply, since she heard so many great things about me.

I wouldn’t even risk my acceptance to those schools with an act like that.
- May hurt your applications
- Won’t have the time
- Will essentially be showing you the confidential recommendation.

I don’t think it’s worth it personally. You can try, best way it to be blunt really and see what they say.

do u like the school? if you do, do it

You would be jeopardizing your chances or any kind of personal relationship you had with those schools for most likely a denial. No way they send you the recs. I think you have a better chance asking to have them sent to the other school your applying to if you really NEED to.

Walden4000, speak with your teachers tomorrow. If they’ve gone through the process before, they were probably organized enough to save a copy of their recommendations. They may even still have copies of the recs on their hard drives. Be honest and open with them, that the Director of Admissions of this school has asked if you would be interested in applying.

You should stress that the application deadline is this weekend. Don’t worry that the school will be draconian about getting the recs in at that time. If the director knows that you were not planning to apply, she knows that the pieces of your application might not arrive promptly by the 31st.

Remember to request your records from the school. Your school will need a new release form for the records.

(Don’t try to request that the other schools you’re applying to send on copies of your recs.)
