Is it appropriate to send TWO teacher recs if the school only requires one? I am of course only wanting to do this because they are both wonderful teachers who write extremely well. Would that be ok, do people do this? It could not hurt me right, as long as they are both very good it could help?

The school website is a good place to start. Call the school. For example, USC website states

All freshman applicants should submit one Counselor/Teacher Report and letter of recommendation. You may submit additional forms and letters; however, the number of recommendations received does not factor into our decision-making process.

I'd say just to send the extra one in, as long as the 2nd one is good (if they state explicitly, we will only look at one recommendation, then don't bother; otherwise, go for it). It can't possibly hurt; worst case scenario, they'll just disregard the 2nd rec.

so the ones that i would like to do this for (send 2 rather than 1 rec) all say this on the common app "1 Teacher Evaluation(s)". The (s) makes me feel like they would not mind if i sent 2. Btw the colleges are U of Miami FL, Boston U, Santa Clara, and Northeastern. If anyone knows that one of those schools will not like to see 2, please tell me.

Extra rec does not hurt. They can always toss it if they don't use it. The reason why D send in 3 instead of 1 is because she already made up the package which included some of the colleges that use the common application(requires 2 letters of recommendation and a school report). All her teachers seem to like her,one is a department chair and the course is the second most difficult course at her HS, so he seems like a good candidate. The other letter is from an English teacher, she's probably a good writer, also she is her club adviser. But honestly, schools that don't require SAT II and that many letters of recommendation usually are not as selective. So don't fred too much.
