I applied to transfer to Maryland for fall 2011. On the website it says that successful applicants have completed a math course equivalent to Math110 and and English 101. I have the math class, but never took English 101 b/c I tested out of it at my college. I did take a seminar in which we wrote many essays, but I'm not sure if that would transfer as an English course. What should I do? UMD is my first choice. I'm also instate and got in last year as a freshmen applicant.

Could you write them a letter to be associaed with your application that you would be willing to take the course over the summer at a local CC? Would you be willing to do that?

Yeah I emailed the admissions office asking them if that would be okay and someone emailed me back saying that my application would be reviewed by then so it would be too late? It wasn’t the response I was looking for. I just think that I have a special circumstance for not taking English 101 as I tested out of it and was not required to take it at my current school.

If you are in-state, you can check all of your coursework for transferability using [ARTSYS Main Menu](http://artweb.usmd.edu/)
