If I wish to recieve nominations for multiple academies should I include them all in one letter, or should I write my congressman 3 seperate letters, one for each academy. Will this hurt my chances of receiving one?

thanks

I don't know about every congressman or senator, but I know for one of my senator, for her application package, she had little check boxes you could check off for which academies you were hoping to get a nomination for. Me personally, I think sending in 3 separate letters is a bit much. Just say it all in one letter.

I sent to three different people, and I got three different application packets. So, they probably don't take the letter into consideration. In fact, I used a format provided on the usma website. You send to them telling them that you are interested. You don't have to impress them with that first letter.

can it be any congressman or only your district

all 435 of them.....the more the better

really?
can I get me recommendation letter right now even though im in 11th grade

StelaS,

Read the USMA Prospectus online at http://admissions.usma.edu/. Follow the steps to admission.

Everyone who meets the eligibility criteria can apply for nominatons from their Members of Congress (MOCs), two Senators and one Congressman. Some can apply for ROTC, Presidential (children of military service members) and Medal of Honor (children of recipients).

Find your Senators and Congressman at:

http://www.house.gov/

Explore their websites for information on how to apply for their nominations. Some have online links. Others require a letter. They will send you an application which will tell you exactly how to apply for their nominations.

Yes, you can get your references lined up your Spring semester of your junior year, if you have the nomination applications.

Good luck and follow all of USMA's directions exactly!

yargh, no not so much, would be a bit on the chaotic side.

I think that you can only recieve a nomination from your own Congressman or Congresswoman. You can not receive a nomination from some random member of Congress.

I meant: Every eligible applicant can get nominations from their two senators, their ONE congressman (or congresswoman) and the Vice President. Four nominations in all unless you are eligible for the others.

Do not write to all 435 Representatives !

Some senators and congressmen will only give you a nomination to one of the academies. So in this case, you should give a lot of thought as to which academy, or better yet, which branch of the military you would rather enter after your four-year education.

Darn, because I met personally with presidential candidate Tancredo.
