Important Question!

Okay, which weighs more in admissions, SAT scores or your essay?? My tests scores were in the bottom 50% ( i got a 29 ACT, and the mid. range to the colleges I applied to were 29-34), but, I've had several people tell me my application essay was really spectacular. And just like everyone else on this site, I've taken the hardest schedule my school has to offer with a 4.0+ weighted GPA, president of school clubs, volunteer work.....blah blah

So, I guess what I'm asking is, do essays matter more? Can they give you that extra boost that admissions officers look for when your grades and test scores aren't absolutely stellar?? Too,does anybody know of someone who's gotten into a good school w/good grades, but it was mainly because of their essay?

Thanks!

the scores count for more, almost invariably. you are, however, at their 25th percentile, so, with good GPA, ECs, and essays, it's possible that you'll get in.
