I was wondering if it was okay not to mention school related ecs on the activity sheet. I mean, clubs in my school are very unproductive (meet once a month). None of the clubs seems to really interest me either.

Instead, I have done a whole bunch of ecs outside school with organizations that matched my passions. I got real world experience and I have accomplished alot and there is much I can discuss about them.

So anyways, not mentioning school ecs on my apps won't hurt me, right? Thanks.

Doing activities outside of school shows that you have taken initiative and gone out of your way to pursue what you love. This will go much further in the admissions process than those once-a-month in-school do-nothing-but-eat-cookies clubs.

I would just add that you should talk to your HS counselor and make sure that he/she is aware of all you have done outside of school.
Give them a list of some kind (some HSs have counselors who advise students to do this, others are not so astute) so that he can mention the important ones in his letter of recommendation to your colleges.

make sure that you reveal your passion towards one of the ec's in your essays and relate it back to you. i've heard (thus may be a myth) that adcoms love to see essays focused on one activity
