Important- Summer Activities!

Hey,

Sorry about asking so many questions but

I remember submitting my Harvard Common App. I put down 'traveled east africa as my summer activity because I helped orphanages there'. I did not mention anything there about my engineering internship over the summer. Should I notify them that I did do other things than 'travel' over the summer so I don't some off as lazy? I can send it with my mid year report. I put the engineering thing as an activity though.

Also, I was chosen to Chair the Geneva Convention Committee at my MUN, should I just put that there if I am going to send information anyway?

Thanks

I think you should relax. Your application sounds interesting already.

Probably most people applying to Harvard have new accomplishments they might want to report, and, I would think, most don't report them. Admissions staff would go insane if everyone kept them updated on everything that is happening in senior year.

Getting into Harvard is a crapshoot at best, and there are a lot of great schools out there. I would try to enjoy senior year now that all the craziness of applying is over.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Akhamed, you should send an Update e-mail to Harvard. MUN sounds good
though it may not be as good to put in the summer stuff at this point?

Every little bit counts?

Thanks for the replies

Chairing a committee might not be that important to them but,

I didn't put my summer activities under the summer activities section, and only put the Africa thing, I just don't want it to be a negative affect

YEAH I know I'm paranoid :)

I thought you said you helped orphanges there-why would that be "lazy" travel? Also, being selected to chair a Model UN committee--depending on how large and sophisiticated your Model UN program is--can be a very meaningnful and significant EC--your call as to whether it's fluff or you're really invovved in the program. That said, you're probably obsessing and if you want to say more on your application, just FAX them a one page update or have the school note/send with midyear report.

I guess you are right. As long as I indicated what I did when somewhere in the application between ECs and Additional info, I think I am safe.

My MUN is one the most recognized in the southern New England Area. Three states participate, and all schools come to ours for MUN.

My ECs show a passion in politics/foreign policy and science/med. Since MUN falls into the former category I think its important enough.
