Hi everyone, so I am a freshman in BU and I simply do not like It. I want to transfer to GWU for the spring term. First of all i want to know if this is possible or is it only possible after a certain amount of credits amassed? Secondly, if it is possible then how am i supposed to get my recommendations from my professors when I barely know them? I can always try to ask them anyway and hope they are nice enough to just write me a little something but I am worried a vague and indifferent recommendation may hurt me.

Basically I had a 3.6-3.7 gpa in High School with a huge trend of improvement.
Took 4 APs:
AP Chem: Score 5.
AP U.S History: 5
AP Calc AB: 4
AP English: 4
Got an A+ in the class in all of them (97-99 on the 1-100 scale)

SAT: 690 Reading
640 Math

SAT II: 730 U.S History
720 Chemistry

Extra Curriculars : Interned in a Senator's office, doing community service/working with constituents. Got a letter of Recommendation from him which i plan to send to the school.

Wrote essays for publications in school newspaper on politics and social science.

Did a foreign exchange to Israel.

Work Experience:
Worked in a Daycare Center for 2 years.
Worked in Jewelry Business.

Don't know if i forgot anything....

Isn't it a little early to decide you don't like your school? And why do you think GWU would be different?
Check on their website to see if they take spring transfers. You'll need a good GPA, so hit the books.

Well I really never wanted to go to the school I am in right now but certain circumstances forced me there for at least one semester. Now I have an opportunity to apply to a school where I really want to be.

Oh and yea i forgot to mention awards and honors.
I recieved "The Leon Spitzberg Memorial Award" in my school which is given to the only 2 people in the school each year. Its for the 2 students who exemplify outstanding achievement in history and social sciences throughout 4 years and for good character.

What don't you like about BU and why do you want to go to GW and did you apply to GW previously??? Your SATs sound like they are in the ball park

No I actually did not apply to gwu last time because I wasn't really informed enough. The reason I do not like BU is because I simply do not like the way they do their premed program and it discouraged me from going into Premed and for some strange reason they make me take foreign language which is simply a waste of my time. I do not like the campus and the way it is set up. Constantly have to run to classes because they are like a mile and a half down campus. Social life isnt really my kind of thing. Frats are really weak. I love the city but i also visited D.C and loved it as well. The main problem is the way they do things academically social life is secondary.

Check to see what requirements are for premed for GW also.

Honestly, the things you don't like about BU, I don't think they are that strong at GW. Premed is not necessarily a major. You may have the 7 yr MD program, but you have to start from scratch, they don't take transfers. Have you considered UMD College Park? I think it has more to offer in the premed
besides, has a really good proximity to major cities. When you write your essay, you may want to visit before, to make sure that GW is a good fit.
And, by the way, social life is extremely important at GW, since you are constantly surrounded by people. The window of opportunities of things to do is amazing, including community service which is in some courses you take, mandatory. Please visit first, then consider transfer. You don't want to have in your transcript you transferred more than once.
