Important: Why Things Missing on Self-Service

rite...thx god............everything is in now............lets wait and see

my last teacher rec was just put in the system today. does that mean theyll have time to review my app?

Yes, I think they will. My husband was reading the Wall St. Journal either Wed. or Thurs. of this week and they had an article about how colleges have really had a mess of paperwork this year. I guess it relates to the fact that both online and snail-mail systems are operating, and that colleges are scanning documents and logging them in in a more complicated way. Combine that with more applications than expected, and many, many students are facing delays in completing their files. I'll try to locate the link for the article and post it.

Danke!! :-d

that's supposed to be a smiley... this could be better: :)

One of my teacher recs are still missing. :( One of them should have gotten there yesterday or today, and my other one Fedex'ed the recommendation and it should arrive Monday. :( I'm getting worried because this is skirting a little too close to the deadline.

Is it possible that the school report/ trancsripts take longer to process (for RD)? Because my other colleges received my transcript Nov 17th, while Cornell still reports it missing!

has cornell contacted you new yorker?

No, not yet, I'm afraid. See our school sends out my school reports at the same time; the problem is they were sent 2-3 weeks before I submitted my actual Common App. (I have yet to submit the Supplement). Since I am RD, perhaps it is taking longer; or perhaps because I submitted my Transcript/School Report prior to my actual application? Other colleges like Harvard had no problem with this; the school report showed up the day after they received my common app.

Should I call them?

GG tun..
Mine arrived THIS monday, November 28th and they still haven't even opened the envelope yet.

So.. they may not even get around to reading that letter before decision time

d/w....they still havent recieved one of my recs..:-(

wow you guys.....decision time is 11 days away and people still have things missing....this isnt good at all.

we can send the mid-yr report after decisions have come out rite??

Of coz....except rejection....

This is idiotic.

First, they lose one of my recommendation letters, but never admitted that they had lost it until last Wednesday. I mailed another copy on Thursday by overnight courier, but it was Thanksgiving, so I waited till this monday. Finally, the courier tracking says it was received on Monday, but they have made no efforts to find it and process it. Their best answer is, call back in the middle of next week. I have heard this response for 2 straight weeks now. They have probably reviewed my application already and one recommendation wont make or break me; I realize that, but if this is any sign of how things work at Cornell, I somewhat regret applying to Cornell.

Well..i strongly encourage u to use UPS....I sent out my intl info sheet on monday...after thanksgiving break...and they receive it on wednesday and the package was signed by an admission officer (some weird names)....
and the system actually updated overnight..so i get to see my stuff all checked the next day...........

Hmm.. I used purolator. Does that mean purolator did not hand my package in person?

Oh well, what did I expect from CANADA POST.. I should be grateful and kissing the country's socialist shoes because my mail actually got there in one piece, and not lost or destroyed.

canada post's express mail is just unreliable........

i sent a copy of my 2nd teacher reccomendation last wed. through fed ex to the CALS admissions office and it still hasn't been updated...i am really worried

lol for all you canadians.. take all your college envelopes.. drive down past the border.. and then send it through fed ex.. its worth it

I spoke to an admissions officer a while ago. Before Nov. 1st. He said that it gets to a point where they just stop reading the letters, so if you're missing something now, I would do myself a favour, and make sure it's in ASAP.
