Hello Everyone,

I think that one of the most important lessons we can take away from this years admissions is that you should apply to as many schools as possible. 3 is simply too few. We have seen some AMAZING applicants get denied as two of their 3 schools and just get in at the third. We have seen a few who were denied across the board. We have even seen some who were denied at all of their top schools bar one.

The admissions committees of these various schools work differently. What may be a reject of one school is an acceptance from another. So do cast you net as wide as possible. Apply to as many of the top schools as you can and supplement that with a good number of other school that you love. Remember you never know which school is going to accept you and for whatever reason.

So do apply to as many schools as you can afford! Start early the acceptance letter and the experience is worth the struggle !

When I applied last year for instance i had 15 schools. I am glad I spent the time on each and every one of those applications.

OMG I spelled important wrong, damn…

I applied to eight. Six were reaches! I was accepted to seven! Applying is hard, but it’s definitely worthwhile.

I applied to 5 and I got into them all. It was definitely worthwhile.

I applied to 3, and I’m very happy with that number. I think it varies from person to person.

I think it depends on situation. For me as a PG, it is advised to apply to a lot to make sure you get in somewhere. You don’t have any options if you don’t get in.

I applied to 6 and got into 4. All were worthwhile, except for SPS which took me DAYS only to waitlist me.

I think its important to NOT apply to too many. Don’t apply to a school just because you can - but because you want to.

I made that mistake. I applied to 11 schools (accepted to 5, waitlisted at 4, rejected at 2), choosing them based on internet lists and boarding school review sites starting mid-November, none of which I had visited. It was hard to write so many essays to schools I felt nothing for and had not even visited. Remember, its quality, not quantity that matter. I felt my essays were almost massed-produced and very quickly-written. Not my best work.

I applied to three, though 1 was a reach, soon realized I wasn’t right for another, and got into the third LOOMIS
