Did anyone else receive a letter saying this? Does anyone else know what it means, as in whether or not its just a form letter?

Yea, I got that too…I heard something about it being called a “likely letter” meaning that we’ll most likely be accepted in January but im not sure

How much is your chance reduced if you don’t get a likely letter?

yea, i got one too, but i really can’t tell if it’s a likely letter or not. i thought that they were sent later than this last year but idk. i really hope it is a likely though!

I received one as well. Did any of you apply for the Morehead-Cain? I thought maybe it was attached to that or something.

I got one of these too, does this mean we’re in?

When did you get the letter? I applied EA and havent gotten one… and everyone tells me that ill definitely get in

today, you may get one tomorrow. :)

It was the likely letter.

What are some of your guys stats ( OOS preferably)?

Last year you had to be like 2100+ SAT In-state or like 2250+ SAT OOS from what i’ve read.

i am 2240 in-state, so that makes sense.

I am 2030 in state, but my ACT was a 32, and I havent gotten the letter

I’m OOS 2290. So does the letter mean we’re in? I’m still unclear.

i don’t think the letter means you’re in, it just means that UNC wants to let you know that you’re a great applicant to the school. I also believe that UNC sends them out to keep its higher stat applicants interested

I’m out of state. 2190 SAT. 35 ACT

OOS 2240 SAT, 35 ACT, got it yesterday

I got one yesterday, and I am in-state. My testing stats are 2170/1480 SAT and 35 ACT.
These are also referred to on here as “likely letters.” Basically UNC send out its EA decisions much later than other EA schools (which mostly let people know in December.)
Since Carolina’s is much later, they want to try to keep some of their top applicants interested even as they receive other acceptances.

If you didn’t get one, I wouldn’t worry at all, you still have a great chance. And if you did, you’re still not 100%. You can do a thread search for lots of other debate about this.

I was just notified that I am a Morehead-Cain semi-finalist, eeeekkkk, I am excited!

got one of these too.

Did any/all of your letters have the thing about tar heel shadow on it?
anyone planning on going?

Got one also. Couldn’t tell if it was a likely letter or not - I didn’t do Morehead-Cain.

2360/4.0 UW in state

Yeah mine talked about Tar Heel Shadow. The whole thing is just very peculiar. The dates for the program are Jan 25, 27, 28 and Feb 2, which is after the acceptance notification date. I don’t understand why they’d invite you to a program when it is possible that you will have already been rejected by the time of the program. The program sounds interesting and I’d want to do it but I live in the Northeast and don’t want to commit hundreds of dollars to something when it’s possibly that I will have already been rejected.
