Impression of 2011 AP Tests

AP Lit was lovely except for a confusing poem and the Free Response prompt… I had a specific novel and play in mind to write about, and neither of them worked with that prompt. >.<

AP Music Theory wasn’t bad, it was just too quick. I would know for sure that I was on my way to a 5 if only I had about 10 more minutes total…

Well, #3 dealt with a torsion pendulum. #2 was a roller coaster track that went from free-fall to a circular arc to a flat part and asked about that. #1 dealt with projectiles and stuff when it hit a block, etc.

It’s really hard to describe what was actually asked. Sorry.

If they release this year’s exam, they’ll include a scoring worksheet so you can see what the cutoffs are for each score. For example, here’s 2001 APUSH: http://www.pointlomahigh.com/ourpages/auto/2008/12/5/50859553/2001apushistoryexamsc_51285.pdf

From what I’ve taken so far:

AP Chem - a bit harder than usual
AP Comp Sci - easier multiple choice, harder FRQs
AP Art History - much harder than usual
AP Calc BC - harder than usual, but not hard
AP Lit - much EASIER than usual
AP Euro - harder MC, easier FRQs
AP Music Theory - same as always
AP Physics C - this was so hard compared to released exams and FRQs that I’m having trouble making a proper comparison using the English language.

AP English Language wasn’t that bad, although I had to rush the last passage of the MC part, but that’s probably b/c i’m naturally slow at English MC.

AP Stats: A joke compared to released questions
AP Gov: Easy
AP Physics B: HOLY GOD DANG IT SUCKED ( I can only imagine you AP Physics C people)

AP Chem: MC easy, FR harder than expected, but manageable.
AP Psych: All easy. FR easier than expected. Finished MC with 30 minutes left to spare, a little less for FR.
AP CS A: MC easy, FR harder than expected. Most likely 4 out of the ones I’ve taken this year.
AP Calc BC: MC and FR medium.
APUSH: MC easier than expected, DBQ easier than expected, FR meh.
AP Music: Both OK. Failed sightsinging as expected.
AP Physics C - Mechanics: easier than expected.
AP Physics C - E&M: same as expected.
AP Eng Lang: easier than expected.
AP Stats: trivial.

Expecting all 5s, might get 4s on CS, US, Music, and/or E&M.

AP Chem: MC easy, FR hard
AP Psych: MC/FR bit harder than expected
AP Chinese: MC/FR on par
AP US History: MC bit harder, FR bit easier
AP Music Theory: MC ?, FR harder non-aural, same aural
AP Physics C: Mechanics: MC much harder, FR harder
AP Physics C: E&M: MC expected, FR expected/bit easier
AP English Lang: MC/FR somewhat harder

^You think APENG was harder than usual?

^I self-studied, but compared to the released exams I did, it was harder. MC’s weren’t quite as straightforward, and I looked at the topic of the synthesis and went “Oh *****.”

AP Psych - meh multiple choice, a joke of a free response
AP EngLit - flip a coin twice, tell me the result
AP Euro - relatively easy multiple choice, hated the stupid DBQ, #2 was ridic. easy, #3 was like ?
AP Music Theory - mutliple choice  FRQ: HOLY *… O.o… SS: Lol! Easy!
AP Physics-Mech: easiest exam since stats last year, i think… 1 e) and f) were hard, but the rest were all easy.

@Pi, do you think you got straight 5’s?

Neglected to mention English Lit. I thought the MC vs FRQ was more or less the same, although I only took one practice test. I am not good at the 3rd essay on lit.

English Lang was like APES in that the MC was slightly harder (although, being Lang, it was still easy enough that I’m reasonably confident I got all of them right), and the FRQ was a bit easier.

^You took both lang and lit?

Calc AB - relatively easy, still bombed it
Lang - MC: easier than normal, FRQ: very easy (I’ve written recognized papers on food supply)
Physics C - the Indians aced it, the rest are cancelling their scores (no joke)
USH - apparently a joke, I’ve yet to take it
Chinese - apparently average, yet to take

Calc BC - Fine, nothing too surprising. Choked on Taylor Polynomial on FRQ but not too bad overall.
Physics C (both Mech and E&M) - Uhhhhhh we didn’t learn jack **** in class so we all got wrecked.
Stat - Easier than I expected.
Macro - Later today.
Micro - Later today.

I have Environmental Science next Wednesday, but for all of my exams, I’d say I’m on the 4-5 border (higher above the border on some exams than others). With the exception of Chinese (native speaker), I wouldn’t be surprised with straight 4’s or straight 5’s or a combo.

Due to confusion over scheduling, I wasn’t sure whether or not I would be able to take Lit as a class next year. Turns out I will be taking it, so I might cancel Lit since I most likely did not get a 5. Miscalculation on my part.

compared to past frq’s and released exams, here goes…
AP Lit: MC easier than expected, interesting pieces & frq’s were alrite
AP Stats: MC much easier than expected, frq was about wat i expected, overall=easy
AP Chem: much harder than usual, i could’ve taken last years exam and gotten an easy 5but this year, i think i got a 4…
AP Calc Ab: MC was as expected. Frq’s were wat i thought they’d be. Hoping for a 5
AP Physics C Mech: frq’s so much harder than past. Hardest ap test i’ve ever taken.
AP US Govt: easier than expected MC, medium frq’s
