My extracurricular activities are not impressive at all. :(

So...heres are review of how my extracurriculars look right now.

9th grade:
Nothing :/ Only worked with kids during the summer
10th grade:
Worked with a non-profit program...but only meet twice a month
Done this for the summer too
11th grade:
Basketball team
Stayed with the non-profit program
Writers workshop - done this for the last 4 months of my junior year...meets once a week only
Tutored kids afterschool - this one I do it for twice a week

I am a upcoming senior, how else can I make my college profile look better...I don't have good grades.

well at this point, it’s a little late to be doing anything specialized. For example, it would have helped to be doing extracurriculars such as music from a young age, but as of now, it would be hard to start something and become competitive in it.

Join a campaign republican or democrat whichever you are. E-mail a representative, they are really good at getting back to you! All you need to do is ask for a spot on the campaign. Its alot of desk work and calling, but it looks great on a resume. Plus it would look great for any campaign to have kid interns, because it shows how involved the campaign is in communities.
Try volunteering, or an unpaid internship, colleges value that more than paid internships, it shows that you really do care.

I was always under the impression that paid internships are more valuable to colleges, as it shows that you can actually make money using your skills, rather than being unpaid… wouldn’t it be much harder to get paid for a job rather than not be paid? Otherwise, it’s just like volunteering, and it’s not hard to do that…
