Improve my sat scores in a month. HELP! :(

So here's the deal, the march sat scores just rolled in , and these were my scores:
R:430, M:510, W:580.
I know its not a lot, but coming from a 138 Psat score to a 1520, is still improvement. So I wanna add 280 points to my 940 Reading and Writing score in a MONTH, so I will really appreciate it if you guys could give me some valuable tips, (since you all are in the 2000's.)
Is my goal even realistic? Nevertheless I need 1220, for Reading and Math if I wanna get into my college of choice, and I need some tips. Plz Help. Im a junior btw.

It’s definitely possible! Look through CC for recommended study schedules for studying for the SAT. My PSAT score was 1840, and my SAT score was 2030. That’s an increase of nearly 200 points in about 5 months! I plan to take the SAT again to get 2100+ to be more competitive.

What I recommend:

 • Take a ton of practice tests (only from CB’s blue book). I took one every Saturday before my SAT (except the week right before). My scores, for the most part, increased with each test.
 • Study vocabulary!! There’s different vocabulary lists, like: Direct Hits, Parade, Essential 300, etc. Many of the same words appear in the same books, so it might be useful just to get 1 vocab list. I recommend Direct Hits volume 1 and volume 2.
 • Have a bank of examples that you can use for the essays. Read some good books that have examples that can be applicable in nearly any situation.

Good luck! :)

Thanks a lot for the tips!

Your goal is certainly realistic so long as you’re willing to put ample effort into achieving it. I can empathize with you, here, because my initial SAT score was pretty dissatisfying (considering where I ended up after all was said and done).

As Krickadoodle said, the Blue Book is an invaluable asset in preparing for the SAT. Space out the practice tests, grade yourself, and then LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES. You’ll probably find that you’re making a lot of silly mistakes by just misreading questions. Learn to give the test your undivided attention, and work the test carefully.

For reading, it’s really important that you learn vocabulary. Direct Hits is probably the best way to go (about 500 words). For the passages, practice, practice, and practice.

You know what? Just read this guide:

It’s REALLY good and it helped me out a LOT.
