what kind of improvements did you make on your SAT CR, Math, or Writing (I am particularly interested in CR), how long did it take, how much did you study, and how did you do it!?

I want to know about this too, (although I'm more interested in Math)

bump bump bump

Uhm, so I basically didn't think I was going to do any better than my first attempt at an overall score

CR: 670
M: 720
W: 790
Total: 2180

Yeah, basically I just wanted to improve my CR score, so I signed up again. The week or two before the test, I ONLY did CR sections, hoping the other two sections would be fine too. then....

CR: 730
M: 700
W: 670
Total: 2100

Yeah....the last time I had done SAT writing/math sections was the last time I took the SAT.... =P But most colleges look at your highest score from each section, and with that I had a 2240.

So yeah, it helps. A lot of it is luck, so the more time you take it the more likely you are to do better in one section. I think it really helped to just do review in one section, but it really hurt the others. =/ Hope that means anything?

thanks, that is very helpful.. what did you do for vocab? Anything?

Sophomore year PSAT 63, Junior Year 73

I took a $900 Kaplan course in the summer between. I used their strategies, and basically studied for the SAT instead of listening to the English teacher, telling us to read more.

i thought colleges looked at your highest score in a single sitting.

like if you got a
[M/CR/W]800 650 750 on a test
and a
[M/CR/W]700 700 700

would the score be 2200 or 2250?

Most private colleges superscore your SATs, taking the highest score from each section regardless of the sitting. The score in the provided example would be 2250.

i c. so it depends on the university.
thats gay.
lol

does anyone know if Rice superscores the SAT?

They do indeed.

Can you tell me about some of the following schools- do they superscore?:

Penn
MIT
Harvard
Princeton
Brown
Duke
Cornell
Georgetown
NYU Stern
Northwestern
Emory
Lehigh
Vanderbilt
UMichigan Ann Arbor
Babson
BC
BU
Carnegie Mellon
Harvey Mudd

(And how do you know?)

I got 620 R, 740 M, 790 W first try. Am I doomed forever because of this Reading score, or does the trouble go away if I get 700+ on my next shot?
