okay i feel like one of those insecure students on the undergraduate college CC boards. anyway, i took a practice lsat today at kaplan, scored a 155... how good is this for a first-year? will it be really hard for me to up this score to around 165? any advice to do this besides practice tests?

I took the Kaplan LSAT prep course, and subsequently taught there for about a year. My practice scores had improved somewhat by the end of the course, and my actual LSAT score was significantly higher than my performance at Kaplan's practice tests would have predicted. Kaplan's materials aren't nearly as well written or edited as the actual LSAT.

Make sure you have the directions for each section of the test virtually memorized before you take it. Take the test with a slightly dull pencil, as you can fill in the bubbles faster that way. And, yes, take as many practice tests as you can.

If this was your first diagnostic, a 155 is pretty darn good. You should probably be able to raise that to 165 with some solid work.

Make sure you take a course or work through some workbooks first (including a basic Kaplan book for starters), and then work through as many preptests as possible. PM me if you want more in-depth advice.
