Improving ACT Math Scores

I recently took the ACT for the second time, and I feel like I did pretty good on every section but the math. I made a 28C with 33E, 18M, 35R, and 26S. The science is low because I didn’t finish that section. However, the math is low because I simply don’t know it.

I’m a junior, and I have done no prep. The math section killed me because I just started geometry this school year, and because I decided I just didn’t want to do math early in jr high. I missed a lot of the crucial building blocks in math, and now I want to go back and study. I’m wondering if anyone else has had a subscore lag far behind like this, and if they brought it up to a reasonable level.

I would like to get my science to a 30 (which I think I would do if I finished the section) and my math to at least a 25. Is this reasonable?

@Tbtyler98 It’s certainly doable, but you should make sure you have a solid command of the topics tested.

The ACT includes some trig as well, which you may or may not have studied before. Just keep that in mind.

There is also the option of taking the SAT, which doesn’t go as advanced (you pretty much only need topics from a typical algebra 1 and geometry course, but no trig or pre-calc), but later problems can be relatively tricky.

Lucky for you, math is the easiest section to improve on. Improve your math and practice your science and I’m sure you can get at least a 32.
