This semester, my current averages are (as on mid-terms):
AP Biology: A/96
AP English: A/96
AP Government: A/97
AP French (although it's considered an honors class): B/92

I'm positive I'll bring French up before the end of the nine weeks, and I believe my grades will stay the same for the following 9 weeks. Based on these grades, my GPA will rise to a 4.7 (it was a 4.4 when I submitted my transcript to UNC). I know it'll be too late for them to consider this for admission purposes, but would it be wise to mail them my 9 weeks report card showing all As? This is all assuming I'm waitlisted. Also, is there anything you can do to increase your chances once you're waitlisted?

BTW–we’re almost 100% sure that DS will be going to Bama (unless we’re pleasantly surprised by UNC merit aid, but that looks less and less likely).

Once we make that decision (definitively), we’ll be freeing up one place, at least.

And I know (ahem) of others who will also be freeing up spaces. I shall say no more.

@Lady Because of how unlikely it is to be accepted RD after being deferred.

Everyone from my school (4 others) who was accepted is going to UNC, and I know lots of others as well who are. I’ve been trying to avoid CC, but it’s getting close to deadline again

Also, what does the D in front of DS mean? I know DD=daughter and DS=song, but that’s one thing on here I’ve never quite understood :)

Yes, I would go ahead and send an update on your grades, and these look great by the way. I think you are in the “nothing to lose” stage. If you want it this badly, it’s better to do everything you can and then if you aren’t accepted/or are waitlisted you can at least know you did everything you could. You won’t look back and ask yourself if you should have sent the newer grades at least. And, if you are accepted, then you can attest it to your determination :).

Mine is doing that too when I try to accept my spot on the waitlist. Is anybody going to call and ask? the admissions office is probably getting tons and tons of calls right now

You say you couldn’t accept/decline the waitlist until today (march 19) but I was able to accept right away on March 18 when I heard? Is it possible something went wrong with mine? I am only concerned because under STATUS"it says “Thank you for remaining on our waiting list. We appreciate your continued interest in Carolina.” when it sounds like the link for the waitlisting letter should be there. is this what it’s like for you guys.

Also, does someone have the link for the waitlist FAQ? Now that I can’t see my letter I don’t have the link. Thanks.

I’m still getting the same error when I try to click “Confirm Acceptance” for the waitlist. Is this just me, now? Its Sunday, so I think I will try to call tomorrow and get that figured out if it hasn’t been resolved.

yes the waitlist letter and FAQ disappear once you accept a spot on the waiting list, I just received a letter in the mail that provided the exact same information, actually it seemed to be a print off of that page
