Improving Critical Reading...

So I took the SAT in March and got 600CR/ 700M/ 780W and I have been trying to improve my CR since then; I want to retake in October.

My problem is that I just can't increase my CR score above 650 on practice exams (I got 660 once, but it was luck IMO). I have read most, if not all, of the posts on how to improve CR, but I just can't get the hang of it. I have generally been doing practice CR exams from previous SATs every week; I check my answers and rationalize why I got each question right or wrong. I rarely miss sentence completion questions, but I miss like 4-8 reading comprehension questions on each section(It all adds up to like 12-20 wrong)

So my questions is, should I just start reading more book, rather than simply taking practice CR sections 1-2 time(s) a week? I usually do the exams reading the passages of the computer, will that affect me? I know CR is hard to improve, but I feel like I'm going no where. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you are confident that your method of attacking the critical reading section is the most effective and efficient, then it boils down to practice. – also, don’t lose too many points because of vocab - make sure that you study some good word lists.

Well I have been trying the method in which you mark the lines and then answer questions as you go… It might not be working well for me since I get a lot wrong… Should I try other methods like reading the passage first and then answering the questions? I feel pretty confident in the vocab part, but I still study words either way.
