Improving from a 21 to a 30 on the ACT

So I'm a pretty bad standardized test taker and I have about 5 months until the September ACT. I need to get at least a 30 to get into the colleges of my choice. I feel like I should be capable since I'm in mostly AP classes such as calc as a junior.

I'm using PR and Real ACT but it doesn't seem to be helping much, I'm learning how to do some problems that might come up on the ACT or might not.

So in order to improve my score by a lot should I get Barrons and go through the entire book learning how to do everything that way I'll be prepared for every problem on the actual test?

keep taking the actual practice tests in Real ACT

I did them all and my score didn’t really improve. I feel like I need to learn everything that may possibly show up on the ACT. What should I do to approach this situation and get at least a 30?

If you are already in Calc you need to backtrack to learn all the math. ACT math is 95% covered in geometry and Algebra II. Science is covered in Biology Chemistry and Physics.

You need to learn to take the test, you’ve already learned the material. After you take each test, look at the answers to see WHY you missed each question. Then learn why, and build off that. 21-30 is a huge jump but it can be done.

Yeah I’m trying to do that, but I have this problem where if they change the problem where you do something slightly different I won’t know how to do it. Reading the answers and figuring out why it was that answer will only help me if it’s the exact same type of problem with different numbers. Should I do this?

Practice more or maybe the SAT might be your better test? Or you’re exaggerrating a 21, I don’t know.

I scored a 21 on my first attempt and got a 29 2 tries later. It is very possible with preparation.

What did you do to prepare JuB0?

Did you put in full effort or just prepared normally?

i took 8 practice tests during the month of time i had to prepare. 3 from the red book, 3 from preparing for the ACT, 2 from ACT online prep.
