I took the ACT in June and received a composite score of 28. My reading score was a 31 and the english a 32; however, my math and science scores were much lower. In the math I only got a 24 and in science I got a 23. I've taken physics, chemistry and PreCalc/Trig so I understand the material, but I've been unable to prove this on the ACT. How can I improve the math and science scores?

I got the exact same composite as you! Good Job! This past June test I was able to raise my Science score from a 23 to a 28! What helped the most was the science practice in the red book and also taking psychology. It might sound weird, but our unit on neurons and stuff actually helped me on that passage! Good Luck!

To improve your science score on the ACT, you have to understand that it is NOT a test of your scientific knowledge. It IS a test of how well you can ingest the material presented, digest it and use it. Very little outside scientific knowledge comes into play, all of the data is given to you, all you have to do is find it. I am constantly telling my students,“Don’t do science, READ science!”
