Hi all. I'm currently a high school junior and looking to increase my math scores. I've never been good at math (terrible, really, since I'm Asian and all) and my PSAT result pretty much magnified that 5x.

What can I do to help myself? Are there certain books I should be checking up? Should I take a prep class? Let me know. I'm taking the SAT early next year and I'd really like to shape myself up for it.

Go thru each and every topic (in Math Section) of the blue book. Yeah, most seem pretty easy but trust me, as long as u know EACH AND EVERY CONCEPT stated in the blue book (I mean Official Study GUide) u will do a lot better. After learning those concepts try out some real SAT practice tests. Don't think about pacing at this very instance. But eventually u need to know how to do so. For the H (hard) problems on the Math section u really need to use ur mind logically, I don't think u can learn everything but as long as u know the basic rules u will see patterns for any Math problem. One more thing is that, u may feel like solving crossword puzzles or do sth dealing w/ involving ur mind which is at the same time a lot of fun. Trust me, it'll be helpful. (there r many threads concerning how to improve math score, browse those a little more and check out Xiggi SAT Prep)

Being an Asian I know exactly how people look at u when finding that u r not good at math. Anyway, practice and work smartly. Best of Luck!

Yeah, me too. I did pretty badly on the math SAT first time around, but improved by 90 points this time. I just took lots of practice math sections and got a friend to coach me through the questions I hesitated on. It helped.
