Improving my admission chances ?

Hello-
Question regarding improving my chances to gain admissions
into UF Fall term 2012 as a true freshman-
Although I am very interested in majoring in Engineering, I was
advised by my guidance counselor to apply as an undecided freshman
as apposed to an Engineering major since Engineering is a prestigious major and much more difficult to gain admission as compared to an undecided student.
IS THIS TRUE ?
Thanks

If you excelled at advanced (or even moderately advanced) math and science classes, I think it would be okay. Personally, I think colleges like when students know what they want to do, but if it would be to your advantage to go undecided, then do it

I’m applying there and will probably say I want to be an English major (which I do) because I have gotten A’s since freshman year in English Honors and AP English, and will be taking DE English my senior year.

Hope this helps!
