i'm wait listed for art history, and i'm 10th in line. is there any way to have more consideration in order to get into the class? i remember hearing at calso that students can email professers to express their interest in the class, but does this actually help?

if it is an automatic waitlist...then no because the department will open slots based on waitlist position...if not(ie-it is a manual waitlist) try emailing the prof and tell him about your prior experience

How big is the class?

Most large classes average 20-25% turnover in the add/drop period, so if it's a big class you'll have absolutely no trouble getting in.

If it's manual then e-mail the professors talking about how you deserve the spot over the other 9 people that rightfully deserve it before you.

^^ Ouch!!!!! What happened to getting an "A" for effort and he probably has a good reason why he needs it more than the other 9 students.

Oh dear I didn't mean it like that.
