Improving my SAT score in less than 1 weeks?

The first time I took the SAT I got an 1150.

Yes that is low, much lower than the scholars on here.

I wanted to significantly improve my score so I enrolled in the SAT Princeton Review 1400 prep.
I took the SAT three weeks ago and I received an 1100. I’m disappointed with my results considering how much time and money I spent on that class.
To be fair I did receive an almost perfect score on my essay (23/24 points).

The next SAT I will be taking is Nov. 9th 2019… Almost a whole week away!

I know nothing will help me at this point right now but I don’t understand why I am not performing my best.

What do you recommend?

Thank you

Why do you think you are not performing your best? SAT scores are not an indicator of intelligence or what you are capable of. They are scores. Scores various colleges have assigned meaning to. FWIW the people I know who have made significant gains on the SAT have worked with a private tutor over the course of several months.

I recommend the SAT Black Book- it gives tips and walkthroughs that are really helpful. With clear explanations of why the answer is right. You don’t have to read through the whole book. It’s meant for quick test prep.

I can recommend a great coach. She will provide you with strategies to help you do better. You might get a couple of sessions in before the test. My son has had incredible results from her coaching – improved almost all ACT section scores, his composite went up 3 or 4 points, and he increased his reading section by 11 points. Not sure if I can post her info here, but it’s stellarscores.com. She is really great. I can PM you if the link doesn’t show up. Good luck!

Did your Princeton Review class come with any guarantee about improving points? Around here that class is about $1,500, but if you don’t gain 180-200 points (something like that), you can retake it free. Not enough time for 2019 test dates, but if you are a junior you have a year.

Yes I knew I had that option but after taking this next SAT, Ive completed 3 SAT tests.

Are there specific types of math problems that you can practice and improve your score over the next week? Khan Academy’s SAT section has math problems broken down by type and you could decide how to focus your time there.

Are you performing higher on practice tests? Real College Board sample or past tests, not those from a test company (those are sometimes easier and give a false expectation).

At some point, consistent test scores simply indicate actual test performance.
