Improving my score from 1990 to 2200+?

Hi guys.

I took my first practice test yesterday with the Kaplan 2011 book. I scored 790 on the math section, 520 on the CR and 680 on the written for a total of 1990.

I was able to finish almost every section with 5-7 minutes left to spare, yet re-reading the CR sections did not help.

I'm pretty confident about the math section as the only mistake I made was a really careless one. Do you guys know if the Kaplan math section is easier than the actual SAT or am I okay?

What would be the best way to improve the CR and written to 700+? I'm most concerned about my CR score as a lot of the questions were either 50% or 33.3% guesses.

Also, would you guys recommend buying the Barron's 2400 and the Gruber's 2400?

Thanks!!

bump… please give me some feedback, guys :(

I would rather recommend buying the collegeboard’s SAT online course or the Blue book if you haven’t. The online course has like 10 real practice tests and explanations. This is the best prep you can get as opposed to using other company’s products.

Kaplan, idk about math section for SAT I, but for SAT II’s they’re much easier than the real thing. But if you got 790, I think your math section is pretty stable.

you can also use the practice tests on this site. [Examdude.com - Free SAT resources](http://www.examdude.com)

For CR, get direct hits, for vocabs and read the newspaper daily.
For grammar, read silverturtle’s guide.

Take a practice test from the BB and post your scores. Kaplan isn’t accurate at all.

is it not accurate in that it’s too easy or what?

are the online courses practice tests the same as some from the BB?
