Interesting topic and a very illuminating article. The really sad part is.... if you research the topic and read that article, it seems that most of the challenges occur when a test score is much higher than the prior score. So the message is, if you are inclined to cheat you should do it on your first test to avoid detection. :(

on march SAt i scored 1720
on May SAt i scored 1900
Octobers SAT expecting 2100
i didnt do anything different before or after March, just do practice tests once a while
now, if i really do get 2100 or better, ETS can't accuses me of anything right, because i have had gradual improvement
also, this brings up another question, should i take the SAT again in december? (this will be the 4th time)
i know there is still room for improvement, so should i ???

NJRes:

I think the point is that one should NEVER take a test unless one is prepared for it, i.e., don't take it "just for practice" and plan an prepping later (why waste 4 hours and $$).

sonic: you are fine.

but should i take the SAT again????

thats ridiculous. I understand where they're coming from but ETS really needs to be more open.

an increase of 300+ points is very possible.

My junior-year PSAT scores were: V-480 M-510 W-650

My Freshman/Sophomore year PSAT scores were MUCH MUCH lower.

My Senior-year SAT scores were: V-700 M-780 W-790

I remember I was a bit sick during the PSAT and I had a headache but that mostly it's because I havent really prepared for the SAT.

I'm not kidding. My scores really did increase by that much over the course of 1 year. And no, I didn't cheat.

DS's SAT scores increased by 230 points. No one batted an eyelash at ETS...and most of that increase (about 150 points) was in the verbal section alone.

sonic:

depends....1) do you think you can do a LOT better? 2) what schools you are applying to....if you are thinking Ivy, then 2250 (1500 old SAT) looks a lot better than 2100. 3) 2250 also puts you in better contention for merit money. 4) But, if 2100 (1400 old SAT) puts you in the top quartile of stats for your target schools, then better to spend time on apps and EC's, IMO.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

I doubt you can sue the CB. I am pretty sure that Terms and Conditions page you agree to when you sign up for the test cites they can do whatever they want.

that is so weird, my bro scored 1200 on his first old SAt and 1450 the next one, if u convert that to the new SAT, its more than 200

haha thats more than 200 on the old one, too!!

the article and all evidence cited here say that scores were withheld in cases when there was a 300+ point increase in THE OLD SAT..

IF THE SAME RULE APPLIES STILL IT IS GOT TO BE A 450 + ..
also it is already told that the increase even now will be considered for only the maths and Critical Reading sections . .

450? i've increased 500 points already from last years practice PSAT (as a sophmore)
hopefully i can increase another 300 by may
