Hi my current sat score is 2060(Math-670 CR-740 W-650(essay-8,MCQ-45)
I wanted to know how to improve my SAT score when i take it again in october. I have already completed Blue book and PR(one with 4 practice tests).
Please give me advice specially for the maths section. I am from India and I think because the topics are very easy compared to my curriculum I tend to get overconfident.
I sometimes complete a section in 15 minutes, and according to the SAT report i have committed most mistakes in the easy questions.
Please advise on how to check my work, and not be overconfident and not let down my defences on seeing easy questions.
I will be obliged if anyone helps.
I will suggest you to get the pwnthesat math book. It is really good explaining how to get on the 750+ on math.
@Jr12317 Thank You for your suggestion. I have ordered the book; I hope i can cross the 750 barrier!
If you read your own question, you will see the likely solution to your problem: you need to slow down! You don’t get more points for finishing early! And those easy questions in the beginning are worth just as much as the hard ones at the end. Most goofy mistakes come from: 1. Silly mental math errors 2. Not answering what was actually asked and 3. assuming the problem said something that it didn’t. All of these go away when you lock in and read more carefully and take the time to write things down as you work the problems. For some of my speedy students like you, I recommend that they play a mental game where they pretend that they had to pay $25 to answer a question but that every right answer gets them their money back + $100. If this were really true, I bet you would slow down and focus. You could also try running a narrative in your head where you pretend you are explaining your solution to someone else. The goal is to get to the point where you are finishing only two or three minutes early, but not making silly mistakes.
Good luck @tiwari124. Also you can see his blog.
