Improving styles and vocabulary as a writer

Any advice on how to become a better writer? not like a novel writer but just writing in general. I have always thought that communication and writing skill are one of the most, if not, the most useful skills in college. My English is average for an international student (Toefl 108/120, SAT reading 660/800), but still, I always see huge rooms for improvement. What activities in college would help me to be better at writing (jobs, club, ... ) ?

Reading. So taking courses with lots of reading (especially English literature), plus reading extensively in your own time.

Joining a club on-campus will only help with your communication skills so much. Even though it is a university, most students still do not speak perfect English. It will be good, though, to build your confidence in speaking and to maybe learn some local slang.

You can also look to see if the university offers courses in writing. You can always ask your English professors for more resources, too. I’m sure they can refer you to some great books.

There are also lots of books you can buy on writing/styles at the bookstore.
