Improving your SAT Math Scores

Hey CC-er's,

As I was prepping for the SAT, I read about the SAT OS for TI-89 (TI-89 Rocks!) and heard that it really helps out with timing, which I am not very good at utilizing. However, my parents won't let me, saying it wasn't worth the money, and now I feel scared on how I will do. Are there any other alternatives out there? Any suggestions?

              Thanks,
                  J Reeves

I really don’t understand why American high school students are so crazy about TI calculators! I own a TI-83 plus and a software simulation of TI-89, and I still think my Casio ES-990 that I bought for about 13USD is faster and easier to use.

^I agree.

Basically, none of the questions on the SAT require a calculator. I had my TI-NSpire out when I took the SAT, and maybe used it once during the test, scored an 800. So don’t buy a TI-89 just for the SAT.

Thanks Guys! And don’t worry I didn’t buy it just for the SAT. I got it from a friend. So, you guys are saying that the SAT OS isn’t really a valuable asset on the SAT? O.K. Thanks again!

I’ve never even heard of an operating system just for the SAT. So it’s probably not necessary to get it.

Crouch88 - I’ve seen your upload on TPB. Extremely impressive, thanks :D

I take the test with a simple four-function calculator. If you reach for your calculator to do anything other than add, subtract, multiply, or divide, you’re probably missing an easier solution.
