while we’re on the topic of sports i wonder how hard it is to get onto the tennis team. there’s probably a bunch of kids who play tennis with the large percentage of asian kids (including me if i make it lol) so i’m assuming it’s one of their stronger sports teams.
Yea, I’m planning on joining the golf team, and the track team if I can. I couldn’t do track last year, but I had a 1:02 400m in 7th grade, so I think I can be decent.
As for the Golf team, I heard they have some really good individuals, but never enough to make a good team
Yall ever really dont wanna do gym so you turn your camera off
Hi I am trying to get into IMSA right now
-4.3 Unweighted Gpa
-1560 SAT Score
-Attended many math clubs and science clubs.
-Live in the aurora area
-Part of the LGBTQ+ Community
-Black Ethnic Background.
Any awards??? - awards aren’t necessary, but they are helpful
Also, any leadership positions in those math clubs? - helpful as well
You should get in. Although the SAT score isn’t a big deal this year those with your score usually get in. My real question is, how do you have a 4.3 unweighted? Like that’s my GPA with weight.
Out of topic, which letter are you? I am also apart of LGBTQ so I’m curious! (my pronouns are she/her)
same here. @HAZELTHYLACINE maybe we might want to move this convo into a private thread if we’re going to discuss our identities further in depth lol
There were 11k+ viewers. Seems like competition will be hella rough this year, also, with that many people, why aren’t they posting anything?
Probably because they think we will judge them if they use improper grammar or spelling? IDK… some of the people in here seem pretty chill, but others seem kinda uppity. And I mean the fact some kids on here are getting almost perfect SAT scores and have state awards is really intimidating. ya know?
Yeah, many ppl on this thread keep saying fewer people applied, but I don’t think so.
Not only do people have more time due to Covid, but last year, IMSA extended their deadline twice, I think, cuz they wanted more ppl to apply. But this year, they didn’t extend their deadline at all…
Well, now I’m worried.
Isn’t it weird that all three of us got on at the same time?
Also, very true, I was very impressed and intimidated on everyone on this thread.
Same
Hey we all impressive in our own ways. Personally, I am banking on my essays and personality. I already know my SAT scores wont be above 1500 nor is my GPA perfect. But I do have confidence and the will to learn. Worst case is I don’t get in. IDK about you but if I dont get in that will only be new determination, determination to make them regret it. SAT scores and GPA won’t matter when it comes to starting a buisness or inventing something knew, that will be on you! Now which school gets to take credit for my future success well that depends on which one I attend. So if I dont get in I just plan to live a successful life but without IMSA. That may be overconfidence but that will become my new goal if I am to be rejected.
SAT n GPA doesn’t matter for inventing and opening a business, yes, but Good GPAs and test scores lead to a good education.
To open a “big/successful” business, not something like a flower shop on a street, you need a good education to understand and analyze markets. You need an education to actually come up with products/service that will actually be consumed, connections and actual skills (which you get from schools) to get investments, and you need to prove that you are worth the investors’ money and trust- where you went to school is still a big factor for securing investments. IMSA doesn’t lead to success, but it does lead to a good path for success…
Most ppl with a good education already have confidence and the will to learn as well, so…
In all honesty, as an 8th grader, I’m not expecting to get in. If I do, it will be nothing short of a miracle. Also, I have not taken the SAT but I also am quite positive I will not score above 1400, and my all awards aren’t on the national level. So the whole reason I’m applying this year is to familiarize myself with the application process. Also, last year I saw that IMSA admission officers met with the 8th-grade applicants that did not get in, but had a very good application, and they helped them improve their application. (I apologize for the rant XD)
I live in a really competitive area and the other applicants from my school are all really smart and have good awards/activities and etc. Dwelling on it kinda just intimidated me and made the application process a lot more stressful than it needed to be but you don’t need to be a groundbreaking genius to attend IMSA. You just have to be someone who’s curious and interested in learning, and someone who cares about the community. The essays are just supposed to help the counselors get to know you better, and decide if you are a good fit for the school. Anyways, gl to everyone on this thread :))
