In a dilemma with AP result and grade received in class

Hi,

I know this is very long, but I really need advice right now, and any input is much appreciated.

I'm in a complex situation right now.
Here's the breakdown:
I'm going to be a senior this upcoming school year, and I've gotten near-straight As all through high school up to this point. However, I have received a B+/B in AP English Language junior year.
The thing is, my English teacher only handed out 1 A- total out of both semesters in two classes of AP English Language. So out of around 40 students, only 1 person received 1 A-. That was only for a semester; he received a B first semester.

All year I've pestered my teacher about my grades. I've been getting mostly 4s on my timed writes, and she said first semester that my grade should reflect the result on the AP exam.
Now that AP exam results have been released, I was surprised to learn that I'd gotten a 5.

Now, when the school year ended, she had not posted the semester grades yet. I came back a week later and she informed me that I'd gotten a B. I looked at my grade report and she told me that 2 timed writes were not graded, saying that "Oh I just glanced at a few of the class' timed writes and they weren't pretty good. I just gave credit for them." These two timed writes, coincidentally, were the two that I felt I did my best on the whole semester. Timed writes and essays make up 80% of our grades, so I was pretty mad to say the least that she would not grade them - laziness on her part >=(. I asked her if she could grade them and she said she wouldn't because then she'd have to grade all the rest of the timed writes and that it would hurt other people's grades if she did so.

I managed to get her phone number and email address and she said she'd contact me to tell me what my grade would have been with the 2 timed writes graded. She never did contact me however, and it's been over a week. She said when I left that one day after getting my grade that she'd change it to a B+ if I got a 5. Something tells me though that she did not expect me to get a 5 when she said that. Last year, only 3 people in her class got an A, and one of them got a 3 on the AP exam.

So now my question is, what should I do?
Should I call her and ask if she can change my grade to a B+, or maybe an A-? I mean, getting a 5 on the AP exam that has the lowest percentage of people receiving 5s, isn't that enough for an A- at least? Have teachers received our AP scores yet? It's been a really frustrating year in this class.

Thanks in advance.

A B or B+ will not kill you.

A certain AP grade does not determine what your grade should be in that respective class. After all, what would happen if you got a 1 or 2, should she then lower your grade?!?! If anything, I would think your 5 is due in part to your teacher who was so harsh on you guys with grading, so personally I would be grateful...

I think a 5 and a B is going to look a lot better than an A and a 1 or 2. Do not worry.

I have never heard of an AP test score, graded by people out side of school affecting a grade in the class

what about seniors?

and if your grade had been lower, would it before if she dropped your grade and why should you get special treatment

it makes sense this teacher has a harder more rigorous class that even though was tough to get a good grade in prepared u well for the exam

I want to say "you'll be okay with a B+/B," but what I really want to say is "live with it." When you have straight As, a couple Bs are nothing to complain about. I understand that it is the principle of the matter...you got a 5, you were close, you should get the A. You're not the only person. My story is the same...I got a B+ and a 5. I don't think pestering my teacher is the right way to handle it. That 5 will contextualize your B. It may not improve your GPA, but that B looks a lot better when compared to an A from someone who got a 3. With all due respect, please just accept the B as a reflection of your performance, your teacher's principles, and unfriendly fate.

Yeah...I'm sure that it won't make or break your college application, especially because you got a 5 on the exam. The score, in conjunction with your grade, indicates that you had a difficult class but you were well-prepared. Nothing wrong with that at all.
