I gave my SAT I in January. I got 780 in verbal and 750 in math, but since it was the old Sat I it did not have writing. So do I have to give the new SAT I to satisfy for admissions requirements? Is the writing portion a necessary requirement for admission to the higher rated universities?
My SAT II scores-
Physics-800
Chemistry-780
Math level 2-I gave the test in May but my scores are still not out. Strange.
Thanks for your help,
Karan.

Probably, i would take it for the writing, and who knows, you might just surprise yourself!

i don't think all schools require it for the class of 06. i'm pretty sure MIT doesn't, check their site

It is my impression that it is required to take the writing portion of the SAT I or ACT if you did not take the SAT II Writing before it was eliminated. It sucks, because I have to take the ACT again even though I was happy with my score just to take the writing portion. I'm talking about Ivy League requirements here though.

PS - Nice job on your SAT II's.

Because of the transition year, it is hard to say how each college is handling the SAT tests. Some colleges may be requiring the New SAT. I would check with each college, or take the New SAT to make sure. The SAT II Writing test was eliminated and is no longer offered.

dufus is correct.

Unless you already know which specific schools you'll be applying to and have checked that they do not require the new SAT I, I'd still recommend that you take the new SAT soon.

Every college is different. Some do not require the new writing portion, and some do. Check with each college's website to determine whether or not you need to take it. xoverseas is correct, though. I'd reccomend you take the new SAT anyway.

Thanks for your advice.
I did mail some major universities and they said that they did not require writing. Yes MIT said it did not require writing. But Berkeley requires the new SAT I think.

@shainaloves, thanks.
