There’s a student that somehow was able to find the questions & answers to my teacher’s APUSH tests. He’s been sharing it with other students. Pretty much if they study every question on that sheet, they’ll do well on the tests because most of the questions on the test are exactly like what’s on the sheet.
Problem is, the teacher curves the test based on how well people do. If every has studied those questions before the test, they’re sure to do well and the teacher will curve the test less. I’m sure I can also ask those students to share the question sheet, but I don’t want to because I might get in trouble.
What would you guys do?
I suppose I could just study extra hard and ace the APUSH test, but it still feels unfair.
Tell the teacher. This isn’t fair to the people who do honest work and the later in the year this continues, the more trouble you’ll all be in. When you report the student who’s been sharing the answers, request anonymity.
I would ask the teacher and have him change the wording or answer choices (if it’s multiple), so that the kids who choose to cheat would be held accountable. I know some people would say to wait for when they get caught, but that is nonsense. If they are negatively affecting your ability to do well, then you shouldn’t put up with it.
Yup. You should inform the teacher anonymously that the exam may have been compromised.
Is the website quizlet?
Just leave a note in her inbox
You have to tell. You can bypass the teacher by leaving a note in the VP’s box. That’s what happened at our local high school.
no, it wasn’t quizlet. The questions and answers(multiple choice) were formatted like how it’s formatted in the tests.
is there a reason why I should leave a note in the VP’s box? I emailed the teacher.
^I think they gave that as an option in case you didn’t feel comfortable bringing it up with the teacher directly. If you contacted the teacher about the situation, then that’s the perfect place to start.
I’m glad you’re taking steps to combat the problem, can you tell us how it all works out? Thanks
Good job for emailing the teacher, I also am curious to see how it plays out!
You did the right thing by emailing the teacher.
Back when I was in 8th grade, my Geometry teacher, who also taught Algebra, used to have us help her in the classroom. Geometry students would help her staple papers or grade assignments from the Algebra classes. Well one day, one of the Geometry students was stapling the Algebra tests and she stole and copy and showed it to a lot of people in the Algebra classes. Two students came forward and told the teacher, but apparently 95% of our team (which is like 1/4 of the 8th grade) knew about it and said nothing (for the record, I didn’t know about, or I would have come forward). The teacher was furious at the student who stole the test, but she was more upset and even in tears at the fact that almost everyone knew, but one those two students came forward. She ended up punishing everyone by changing the way she structured her class and she never let students help her after school anymore (which we did for NJHS hours). She was never the same after the incident.
