In a Predicament

I’m a junior (HS) planning to major in Chemistry. I would love to get some lab and research experience before I go to college. My top colleges as of now are U Chicago and Caltech (pretty different I know) and I have the grades and test scores but no real experience besides AP Chem and AP Physics in lab work. The problem is, next semester I’m going to have to get a job to pay for my gas, insurance, shoes (I’m a runner) etc. I will not have time to do both a job and research/lab work. Is there a way I can combine these two, i.e. getting a payed position? Any help would be appreciated.

I would try talking to the Chemistry professor at your HS or Guidance Counselor about this.
Also, can you find something you can do over the summer?
you might possibly have to work a second job.

Also search on line: for “high school chemistry research for students” in your state

Is there a way that I could get a job working in the lab at my age/education level? Also, over the summer I will (very likely) be in the Kentucky GSP program for 5 weeks.
