I'm going into my senior year and summer is almost up in a week or so. I've never taken the SAT before but my PSAT score was a 148, bad I know :( I haven't been able to study over the summer, and I feel absolutely terrible. I wanted a high score, in the 2000+ range. I knew I could do it, because I am pretty smart but no so good with standardized tests like the SAT. I have NO idea what college I want to go to yet, and on top of that I'm not ready for the SAT. I'm planning on studying September, October, and November for the December test. (Of course I will at least try the other time in October). I feel like a loser, and I wish I could get into a good school. Do you think i still have a chance? How should I develop my studying schedule? Do colleges still ACCEPT december scores? It's all so hard and stressful, especially since I'm going to have to work two jobs this year just to support myself cause we are pretty poor. Ughh I feel hopeless. Please help with some advice..? Thanks a ton.

What’s your plan beyond the SAT?

I can’t tell whether it’s because your heart isn’t really in it, or because you have too much other stuff on your plate, but you really don’t seem to be making any serious moves in the direction of going to college next fall.

Perhaps–and I am trying to suggest this seriously, not trying to be rude or funny–you should give some thought to doing something else for a little while first. You can decide not to take that advice, but please don’t come back with that “loser” bit. Choosing not to follow the traditional path doesn’t make you a loser.

My head is in it, but there’s a ton of stuff going on and I’m planning on going to college in the fall no question about it. But I’m asking if I can still pull through by studying September October and November?

Grab a practice ACT book and try taking it in September. Sometimes one test clicks and another one just doesn’t.

But you are not answering my question… Do I still have time to prepare for the SAT?

If somebody said “no,” would it change anything? You said you’re “planning on going to college in the fall no question about it.”

Better get crackin’ those books.

Honestly I don’t think you should take the December one I heard that colleges look at your scores up to janurary and the December one seems really late because it takes 3 weeks for the score to come out maybe the November would be a better idea id say take the oct and see what happens and if youre mind is really setting on going to college in the fall take it again in december

Yeah some colleges look at scores from January if you’re applying RD… You got time. Take a diagnostic test to see how much you should improve. Six months are enough.

Just do it.
