In a very complicated, frustrating situation. Please help.

To go straight on to my situation, so basically, the class I'm taking right now at community college was my last class before I can graduate and receive my associate's. (I need 65 credits for my degree, had 62 right before I took this class). However, I failed the class and therefore, won't be able to get my associate's degree. I'm already set to transfer to Rutgers University in the fall, since I got accepted and all that, paid my term bill, everything. So basically I'm leaving community college having completed 62 credits, 3 credits short of an associate's degree (which is extremely frustrating), and I really want that associate's degree.

What am I supposed to do? If I come back to my community college during winter break and decide to take a 3-credit winter class, then will I be able to get my associate's degree? Is it possible? Or would I be considered a brand new student all over again.

Please help.

if you are transferring to Rutgers with the intent of getting a Bachelors degree, which I assume is the case, having an Associate degree will be essentially meaningless after you get your BA or BS. NO employer will ask if you got an AA, once you graduate from Rutgers. The LAST [or highest degree] on your CV is the one that counts. Relax and do well at Rutgers!

Seconding menloparkmom. There’s no point in worrying about getting your AA, as it’s much like how no one cares where you got your bachelor’s (or that you have one) once you have a graduate degree. I know it’s frustrating, but it’s one of those things you should let go of, because it doesn’t matter in the long run. :)
