In at ucla, should i expect reject from cal?

I was accepted at UCLA. I am hearing a lot of hype about people who are rejected at LA may be more likely to be accepted at Cal and vice verse. Does this mean that my chances at Cal are lower because I already got in at LA???

Or rather, what are my chances of getting into Cal now that I have been accepted to UCLA?

although there seems to be a correlation between the two schools, there really isn't one

this means that your chances are the same

WOW you replied sooo fast!!

This has been discussed too many times.

There is NO WAY that they have enough time to work out a conspiracy. UCLA and Berkeley get 42,500 and 38,500 applications respectively.

So realistically, it wont happen.

Secondly, UCLA and Berkeley are competitors. It would be likely that their admissions would grab all the best students quickly and offer them admissions so the other school would be denied those said students.

Logically, it doesnt work either.

a bunch of people got into ucla and ucberkeley: http://www.collegeconfidential.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?5/57479

To sum up, no, you shouldn't.

+, you can't do anything about it anyway.

congrats on LA and good luck for berks : )

hahah i knew a lot of people from my school last year who got into both, but they were mostly from the first decile group.. i think you'll see more of the UCLA or Berkeley one or the other thing in the second decile and below.. but i could be talking out of my butt right now, so.. eh

All but the best high schools send only 2% or less to UCLA and Berkeley.
98% of all students at Cal were in the top 10% of their class. 97% of all students at UCLA were in that range.

So how can people in the 2nd decile go to Berkeley?

um.. okay then, maybe i'm wrong.. whaaaatever.. but there has to be that 2% and 3% who aren't in the top decile, right? meh.

yea those are probably the athletes

Awesome..I'm 52 out of 490.

top 11%? ahahah
lemme go burn my application now?!

I got rejected from UCLA but got into Cal (college of chemistry).

I'm just shy of the top decile, and got into both UCLA and CAL

i got rejected from ucla, my dream school, but into berkeley. i do think there is a conspiracy, because the same thing happened with almost all of the students that applied to both from my school, they either got into one or the other. my teachers are talking about it too. weird.

I got into LA but not Cal which is where i wanted to go T_T

me too but i wanted to go to ucla anyway

GO BRUINS

i got into berkeley but not ucla. initially i was heartbroken b/c i love ucla, but it doesn't have my major(architecture) and berkeley does, so i guess it worked out

conspiracy? lol.. maybe i'll start believing.

I got into UCLA (shocker)

Rejected from Berkeley -_-... hmm... interesting...

i got rejected from ucla but got into cal
there isnt a conspiracy, they just see things in a different light, in my opinion, cal picks the better students
haha jk

I really don't think there's a conspiracy as I got into both, though I think I'll go UCLA. Then again, I'm in the top 10% so I don't know.
