In case you missed the announcement ...

Well now I am getting NO email notifications. What the heck is goin g on??

The site looks a little better to me. Is the font a touch darker blue? Also the word “bookmark” before the thread titles is no longer there. Am I imagining these slight improvements? Also, the “edit” is gone and available if I click the gear on the upper right. It seems less busy overall.

Back to same problems today.

As others have said, post numbers were very helpful. Also, I like that it keeps me logged in longer (lost many a post because I took too long to finish it). However, dislike that when you log in you are directed to the main CC page, not where you were reading or even the forum you were in. I don’t mind the font as much as I did in the beginning.

How do you see old posts of members?

If you click on a user’s avatar or screen name, you can select ‘replies’ from the upper left corner to see previous posts of members.

Found a new bummer: there’s apparently a limit on the number of characters in any single post. That’s an issue for the ongoing Class of 2018: List of Acceptances thread, and will be an issue for subsequent years. A real pity, because the acceptances thread was an easy way for folks to find others who’d been admitted to the schools their kids were accepted to.

Thought I’d bring this back to the top to make a few comments. We’ve been using the new format for several months. I still don’t care for it. I have seen a huge drop in the number of people who post on the class of 20xx threads. It’s really sad that those of us who had stayed in touch for years aren’t coming back anymore. I really wonder of CC has kept track of the drop in posts. I also think the number of new posts in the Parent and Parent Cafe forums has dropped significantly.

Thanks, VAMom, for bringing this topic up again. Although I’ve become accustomed to the new format, there are still aspects that remain highly annoying. And the mobile app is absolutely unusable.

Getting logged out again.
Also miss seeing at a glance what threads I have posted in without having to open my profile.

There’s a mega thread in the community forum about all things downgrade related. We’re being completely ignored, of course, but it’s there.

I feel certain that CC has experienced a significant drop in readership, viewship, and postingship. Which is sad. I still can’t figure out what the “improvements” really are. Will someone “out” themselves and say what you were demanding be changed exactly, and why? My experience has been that changes on forum sites like this one are made more for the benefit of advertisers than users – indeed, if there ever was a CC Complaints thread on the forum before the changes I never saw it!

I took the survey and asked for bookmarking, which happened. So I’m thrilled with that particular change. The new format doesn’t really bother me.

Most of us feel that way, although no one connected to CC will admit it (even those that could, won’t). I’m sure there are clear rules on what admins/mods can and cannot say about the new format. Since it’s now been more than two months since the changeover, people who were going to leave have mostly left. Those of us left probably use CC less. It must be what the owners of CC/Hobson’s wanted!
