In Dartmouth: but what might (have) be[en]?

1 Dartmouth
2 Swarthmore
3 Amherst
4 Davidson
5 Carleton
6 Rhodes
7 Birmingham southern
8 Alabama

1) Dartmouth
2) Arizona State
3) Mary Washington

Those were the only schools I planned on applying to.

That's a very diverse array of schools...

I'm RD

Dartmouth
Stanford
Wisconsin

takeheart -- Yale was my first choice; so happy to have been REJECTED ultimately in RD and gone to Dartmouth. A good friend went and actually felt stifled by the college system and the definite social hierarchy at Yale. Good luck, though... hope you don't get an itch for green later ;)

social hierarchy at Yale?

for me i have alot of ties

1.cal berk,brown,dartmouth,duke

Dartmouth

Yale

Harvard

Tufts

Brown

BC

Dartmouth

Princeton

Stanford

Harvard

UVA

Various safeties

Which are more similar, Yale and Harvard, or Yale and Princeton, or Harvard and Princeton in terms of whose smartest?

Also, is Dartmouth more liberal arts or science? Is it better than Brown academically?

I would say that Harvard and Yale are most similar in terms of "smartness." Also, Dartmouth seems more liberal artsy to me, and in my opinion is better than Brown academically (just my opinions, all based on superficial reputations that I have of them, FYI).

The majority of students at all of those schools are brilliant, so it would be difficult, if not impossible, to seriously compare the intelligence levels of those students. Also 'who is' is abbreviated as "who's," not "whose." Dartmouth is heavily invested in the liberal arts.
Dartmouth is not "better than" Brown, nor is Brown "better than" Dartmouth. They are simply different. The best fit would depend on the student's personality. As they are both top tier institutions, the academics and opportunities at each are of the highest level possible.

i think i'ts extremely pointless to start ranking the Ivies in terms of "smartness." At all of the Ivies + Stanford and MIT, you're bound to meet tons of kids who are way more brilliant than you, as well as tons who are way dumber. you're kidding yourself if you think if you go to Harvard you'll meet all these geniuses, while at "lesser" ivies the kids won't be as smart. that's not how it works...there are so many other factors to consider when choosing a school that the smart kids are pretty much spread out. things like social scene, campus vibe, majors offered, location, and financial aid packages are more important in most people's final deicsion than their guesses at the students' IQs.

in terms of whether Brown or Dartmouth is better...i agree with mindofayn, you can't get into that discussion. it totally depends on which is the best fit for you.

willywonka what pary of MD r u from...im from frederick, yet another unknown part of MD, stupid montgomery county, lol

For me it turned out like this

Dartmouth

Amherst

Columbia

Duke

Swarthmore

Oberlin

Morehouse

How does Dartmouth campare with Middlebury.

Stanford

Dartmouth

Amherst

Harvard

UCLA

CAL

UCSD

UCI

UCSB

UCD

Dartmouth and Middlebury are relatively close to eachother, right?
