I'm looking at Haas, Comp Sci, Econ, stats, orms
as potential majors as of now

I've passed out of both r and c's
and math1a/1b

I've already taken multivariable as well

but still, I hear math 1b with burgoin is very good/easy

And a good grade in a math course like that is appealing
I don't know how 53 will be Spring term

I'm looking at espm 50ac
Soc 3ac

ethnic studies 20
Phil 2

Asian American studies 20a

I just want easy classes to satisfy my breadths
and fpf has pretty limited options

I haven't checked out the classes that have no professor yet listed b/c I'm basically just looking at my ratemyprofessor ratings to see how good/easy these classes/profs are

They didn’t tell me this (note: two years ago), but you can petition to take 53 on campus. I ended up taking it Fred and had a great time, but I wasted that semester since I tried petitioning too late. Try ASAP if you want (I strongly recommend you do). On the flip side, I ended up with an A in that, and an easy prof for 53 in the spring :P

AAS 20a was a nice, easy class - Prof. Dong was a really chill guy. Set up mandatory field trips and watched a ton of movies.

Not too sure about the others. I took Anthro 1B with Gary and he was pretty epic too. All memorization - entire primate lineage, etc…

Heard ESPM 50ac was decent.

Oh rly
Thanks man

maybe ill petition
If its an easy prof

Do you have credit for 1A, 1B, and 53? If so, don’t bother repeating them unless you find that your knowledge is lacking based on review of the old exams for those courses:

If you do not need to take 53 (or are unsure), consider petitioning for 54 or H54 on campus. Note that CS needs 54, while economics with math and ORMS need 53 and 54, and business needs either if you skip 1A and/or 1B with AP credit. 54 does not require 53 as a prerequisite, though some introductory differential equations material is in 1B that you may need to self-study.

Since you are interested in CS, you may want to either petition for CS 10 on campus, or just go to the lectures to get an idea of what CS is about.

ESPM 50AC is a good course for coverage of breadths – American cultures and any one of historical studies, philosophy and values, or social and behavioral sciences among the L&S breadths. But note that Ethnic Studies 21AC, Sociology 3AC, and Philosophy 2 would likely duplicate these same breadth categories, so you may want to include an arts and literature, international studies, or biological science breadth course.

^ Second that. 54 is actually the better way to go - forgot CS only needs 54 and that you did multi haha

the thing is burgoin for 1b is going to be very easy and i can possibly get an a+
Wouldn’t that look good for haas

Should I petition for cs 10 tho
And do u know how to petition?

just emailed fpf and they said they don’t allow petitions

Is this new

I was at Cal Day this year and they said they wouldn’t allow students to take any courses on the main campus whatsoever… Lame I know. But technically we aren’t even supposed to be there until the spring anyway, so whatever.

You can just sit in on CS 10 lectures without registering for it if you want to get an idea of what CS is about.

Whhaaaat D: Yeah that’s new. That sucks - sorry Take 1b and 3 breath - that’s what I did, and my GPA was very happy rofl

Sitting in on lectures is a great idea, and if you are interested, email professors about research and such to really get involved. This can also be a nice time to join clubs and stuff.
