"In loco parentis"....Do you live near a college?

I bet there are a lot of parents like me that would only look for more recent volunteers on this thread, so I’m going to repost my information so people know I am still available. I live in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania and am minutes from: Lehigh, Lafayette, Moravian, Muhlenberg, DeSales, and Cedar Crest College. As of May 10, I will no longer be the parent of a College student, but willing to help out with emergencies, or chicken soup delivery!

Live in Richmond, VA - about 15 mins from University of Richmond and 25 minutes from VCU (Virginia Commonwealth), 30 minutes from Randolph-Macon College and 1 hour to UVA, Longwood College and Hamden-Sydney College.

I live 10 miles from the University of Colorado at Boulder, 30 miles from Colorado State University, 30 miles from the University of Denver and Regis University.

I live 10 minutes away from Richard Stockton State College in NJ (very recently gained University status). This is a great board…having recently coached my new graduate daughter (over the phone) at 5am into a cab to the ER Sibley hospital in DC for a Kidney Stone!

I live in MAINE between Portland and Brunswick, so the following schools are relatively close:
Bowdoin
Bates
Maine College of Art
USM
UNE

I live in Madison, Wisconsin. 15 minutes from the University of Wisconsin and Edgewood College. PM me if I can be of help!

I live in Rochester, NY about 3 miles from the UNiversity of Rochester, 6 miles from Rochester Institute of Technology, about 1 mile from Nazareth and St. John Fisher colleges. I can be reached here or by cell phone if you want it. I am happy to help. Is there anyone in Canton, NY (son is at SLU), or Binghamton, NY where my daughter is in school. This is the best Idea ever but I see these posts are very old. Am I sending it to the wrong stream?

I’m 10 minutes from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). (Also 25 minutes from Westmont College.)

Hi, Miami FL here, alumnus of UMiami (Music) and FIU (Compsci.) Not up to date on current programs but can answer campus questions and general Miami stuff. I live a few minutes from Miami-Dade College (Kendall campus)

Hi, I live in Corona CA. About 25 miles from UCI, UCR, CalTech, Harvey Mudd and 50 miles from UCLA and USC. Happy to help or answer questions about the LA area.

Does anyone live near Rice University (Houston) where my son will start attending this Fall?

I live in Orange County, CA so I’m relatively close to any So Cal School but the closest ones would include CSULB, CSUF, UCI and Chapman. And I spend time visiting the Claremont schools (where both my kids attend).

20 minutes from Ohio State and Otterbein, 30 minutes from Denison, 1 hour from Muskingum and U of Dayton in OH. My parents are 10 minutes from George Mason in VA if anyone needs a connection there.

I’m in Epping, NH about a half hour from UNH if anyone needs help. I also have a close family friend who is a freshman CS major there as well. Inbox for contact info if you think you may ever need it as I only check in here on occasion.

One hour from Clemson, 45 minutes from Wofford and Furman.

My DD is 2300 miles away from home and recently had to go to Urgent Care. Luckily we have a friend nearby who could take her and help her get scripts. I’m happy to return the favor… I’m 20 mins from AZ State University and Grand Canyon University. If I can help, let me know.

I live in NC. 20 minutes from Wake Forest, High Point U, Greensboro College, Guilford College, UNCG, 45 minutes from Elon and Davidson

I live in the Los Angeles area (northern Glendale), 15-20 minutes from Caltech and Occidental, 40-45 minutes from USC, UCLA and the Claremont consortium schools (Harvey Mudd, Pomona, Pitzer, Claremont McKenna).

I live 10 minutes from UT Austin, and 2 hours from TAMU; and about 45 min to Texas State.

We live 13 miles (one bus ride) from University of Washington campus, anywhere from 20 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. It’s a little farther for us to SPU, Seattle U, or Cornish, a little closer to Bellevue College (99% commuters, not sure this would ever come up) and the DigiPen Institute. Seattle has all the healthcare you could want, but the wife has a small family clinic on the Eastside and knows most of the specialists in the area.

Portland, Oregon
University of Portland
Portland State U
Louis and Clark
Reed
and so on.
